Privacy Policy

  1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how the Canadian Building Manager Standards Council (“the Council,” “we,” “us”) handles personal information collected through our website.
  2. Information we collect
We do not currently use cookies, analytics, or tracking scripts on this site, and the site has no forms that submit data to us directly. The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us, typically through the mail to links on this site, which open your own email client. Depending on which link you use, this may include your name, email address, phone number, employer or organization name, property/unit counts, or training-program details.
  3. How we use your information
We use the information you send us only to:

Respond to your inquiry or process your membership application

Send payment instructions and confirm founding membership status

Send formation updates you’ve specifically requested (e.g. incorporation, board appointments, published Competency Standard)

Maintain an internal record of founding members and applicants

We do not use your information for unrelated marketing, and we do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties.

  1. Third-party services
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts’ CDN, which may log the IP address of visitors as a normal part of serving the font files. We do not currently use any other third-party trackers, ad networks, or analytics providers. If that changes, we will update this policy and, where required, seek your consent before deploying new tracking tools.
  2. Data retention
We retain application and inquiry information only as long as needed to process your request or maintain the founding member/applicant record, or until you ask us to delete it.
  3. Your rights
Under Canada’s federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act, you have the right to:

Know what personal information we hold about you

Request access to, or correction of, that information

Withdraw consent to our use of your information at any time

Request deletion of your information, subject to any legal recordkeeping requirements

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We aim to respond within 30 days.

  1. Security
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the personal information you share with us, appropriate to the sensitivity of that information and the current early stage of the Council’s operations.
  2. Children’s privacy
This site is intended for professional and organizational audiences and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
  3. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Council incorporates, adopts new tools, or begins formal accreditation activities. We will post the revised policy here with an updated effective date.
